Question by Meg London: if I get my bachelor’s degree in nursing abroad is it less credited than a USA degree?
I want to go to university in New Zealand to get my bachelor’s in nursing. I am from the USA now and am wondering if I did go to New Zealand, would my degree be significantly less impressive than a degree from the USA? thanks! and I am fairly smart too; I would not be going to an ivy league back in the states, but a fairly good school.

You’d most likely need to get licensed in the US upon returning, but NZ and other foreign (European especially) schools are actually as good as or even better than their US counterparts.

Question by deedee: How can I (an American) look into getting a nursing job abroad (Latin America, Europe, etc.) ?
I am an experienced traveler who really would like to live abroad. I was a teacher in my previous career and am currently working on a nursing degree. I would like to work abroad, in the healthcare field, possibly with nongovernmental organizations, but am having a hard time finding any PAID employment–most are just volunteer opportunities. Does anyone know about nursing jobs abroad? I am nearly fluent in spanish and portuguese and would love to work somewhere that either of these languages are spoken—like Brasil!
I am also interested in longer term volunteer opportunities but would really love to make a big move and work abroad.
Oh, and also—does anyone know about Master’s degree programs in nursing or international health in foreign universities? I’d be interested in those too.
Thanks for any help!

Question by camrin: What is a good job to do while studying overseas?
I am studying my business degree at the moment through correspondence (but I have not completed it yet) and would like to work overseas for a while . Does anybody have any good, legitimate ideas, that will fit into my studying schedule. I am aware that working and studying is alot of work, but I am hardworking, disciplined, honest and ready for the challenge. Thanks for your advice everyone

First, check with Immigration to ensure your Visa will allow you to take a job on the economy while you are in a student status.

Second, the country you’re in and your local language skills will probably determine your job opportunities. A few jobs come to mind: delivery person (in Asia, food delivery would be easiest); taxi driver (in America easy to obtain); fast food restaurants (depending on your language skills, probably not a counter position); perhaps an internship at a local university or with a potential employer for a stipend; blogging about your experience in your location with a proper amount of online advertisers.

Also, volunteer work for a local Red Cross or Red Crescent, or a hospital, will provide experience to enhance your business degree.

Good Luck!

Question by janice: studying overseas.?
i might consider going overseas for my education after completing me A levels. however, i have heard alot about discrimination overseas. is it true? and, i have also heard about studying overseas involved alot of independence. is it true too? how much does it cost to study law in britain?

If you have the opportunity to study overseas you should do it. The experience you will receive is second to none. You’re going to run into people that don’t like you because you are from another country, but you can have people in your own country not like you. You will have a lot of independence because odds are you won’t be close to any family…you’ll have to resolve all problems and issues on your own. Sorry, don’t know about costs in Britain…check with the school you might like to attend.

Studying Overseas?

Question by *lonely one*: Studying Overseas?
I am considering studying overseas, more specificaly the U.K.. I was wondering if anyone has done this and how hard it was to get into their schools and adjust to living? How hard was it to fit into their society? and if you found a job, how hard was it to do so? Also do you know of any scholerships that are offered to students planning on studying overseas?

I don’t know of any scholarships but I know it’s not going to be easy to adapt. I’ve lived in Germany & Australia & it’s difficult for a US citizen to come to grips with the insanity of life outside the USA. The unique aspects of life elsewhere is daunting. Just to cross the street is an ordeal, every time. But you should not be discouraged, merely aware that it’s a challenge, but life’s like that!
