Does anyone know the benefits for Civilian Army or AF Nursing?
Do they recieve any benefits. I figured only the active/reserve nurses get the loan repayments, bonus, housing paid for, bonus, medical etc… Do civilian nurses overseas get any benefits?
If you are employed in the States, you receive a salary (all taxable). It is your responsibility to pay all your bills/housing from that salary.
If you obtain a US civilian job overseas, while you are still in the States, you typically are authorized LQA (Living Quarters Allowance). This is a non-taxable amount that is to pay for your immediate housing overseas. Your salary is less overseas, but is off-set by this amount, typically. You are also authorized to use the PX/BX and/or NEX (department store) and the Commissary (military grocery store).
As a federal gov’t employee, you are authorized to purchase health/life insurance through those offered to other gov’t employees.
