Interested in studying overseas in Australia?

Question by : Interested in studying overseas in Australia?
im interested in going to nursing school in australia. i currently reside in california. i have a private nursing school lined up, but it is going to cost me 133k (would go to a public school but they are very competitive as far as getting in to, and have extremely long waiting lists). from what ive heard, nursing school in australia are no where near as much. is it possible to get student loans for studying over seas? does FAFSA offer financial aid to those interested in studying in a different country? how hard is it to get accepted into nursing schools in australia? do i have to go to a university there, or are there schools dedicated to nursing and what not (the school i plan on going to here in the states is specifically for nursing)? generally how long are nursing programs there? schooling here is going to be 3 years and walk out with my BSN. my grades in high school werent the greatest, will that hold me back from getting into schools over there? i have family there to sponsor me as far as getting a visa goes. the way i see it is, if i can spend 133k or less, getting the same education, and living in a different country for a few years, then why not go for it? any advice and information would be really helpful

Question by : Studying overseas (Australia, England, America, New zealand)?
I will be completing my ‘o’ levels in Singapore next year. However, I do not really wish to further my education here in Singapore because I really dislike it here. My first few choices were Australia and new zealand as they’re quite close to Singapore and it isn’t that expensive compared to studying in America or England right?

Oh and if I study overseas, can I apply for student loan? And what are the costs of living!

Can anyone give me more information about these places and their education institutions?
If I study in England, the cost of living will be fairly high right? My family’s not poor but am not exactly rich, slightly above average you may say. So any advice given would be appreciated:))

G’day,

More and more international students are applying for nursing courses. The nursing course becomes very competitive and universities are imposing strict quotas. The reason is b’cos of the clinical placement, where the unis have to place students in hospitals for real assignments, so spots are very limited.

You will need to have very good English, b’cos you are going to converse with patients directly to know their conditions. It is a hard job, demanding physically and mentally (as you would have guessed). Demands are very high in Australia.

There are only 42 (soon to be 43) universities in Australia, all of them are fully accredited and they are tightly regulated, therefore the quality and recognition of their graduates are equal from wherever university you are studying from. The most important thing is you have to READ the course information carefully, since some courses may have the same name but different content.

There are quite alot of Australian universities offering nursing courses to international students. I suggest you to go to Dept of Education, Science and Technology (http://cricos.dest.gov.au) and IDP Education Australia website (www.idp.edu.au) online databases. The information abt fees & requirements can be found in the university’s website. Please make sure that you access the information for internationals students, since some requirements, application form and fees are different than Australians’.

Once decided on the uni, fill in the application form and send it together with certified copy of your academic qualification. Depending on your country of origin, you may also need to submit an IELTS test results for proof of your English proficiency (www.ielts.org)

Hope this helps. Good luck on your study and welcome to Australia icon smile Which university should I choose regard nursing in Australia?
