I live overseas, studying in uk (UCL- london). I cannot view the property (can’t afford to visit the uk just to look as no where to stay and it’ll be too expensive)

What i’dlike to know is, how does other overseas students find a palce to live?

like u they trust what they see on the internet and book it. or get friends to look / book for them. there’re many websites to look at or agents to look for u and u pay deposit and go. some r terrible then u start looking again and move. if u’re lucky u get a good one and stay put.

Question by imconfused: Is BSIT in demand abroad? Is it a good choice of career? or is nursing still better?
I have been thinking of it for a long time. Until now. That if I take BSIT would I get a good job? Would I have a chance to work abroad? If this career is good what schools in the Philippines has good standards for this course? specifically in Baguio City… Thank you very much.

Hi, Im an American also studying in the Philippines in Cebu, I chose IT over nursing, nursing is in demand right now but with the high rate of filipinos graduating every year I dont know if it will still be in demand by the time you graduate.I would go with IT just because you can gets lots of different jobs, whereas nursing you can only get a nursing job, and if you stick with IT for a long time after 6-7 years of working you can become an IT Manager and make 85,000 a year, which is more then nursing.The bets school I can recommend is Informatics, they have branches all over the philippines and it is an advanced course, so it only takes 3 years to graduate,just look up their website www.informatics.edu.ph hope this helps

No nursing is a great way to make money and they are always in demand no matter what Go for it it’s a great fun exciting job with something new everyday and you get to help people. Not to mention the great pay!

I am majoring in nursing and planning to go study abroad next year. However, I searched around on the internet for a American colege in Japan with a nursing program and I’m having no luck at all. If you have any information on this, please post it. All info is welcome.

There is no such program. To become a nurse, you need to get local license. If you wanna be in the US, finish the colleges in the US.
In Japan, there are classes in Japanese only. The exam for the license is also held in Japanese.

Japan is not immigrant and multicultural country. 98% of the population is Japanese and people don’t speak English.

It depends on the reason for the worker shortage and the terms of the recruiting. For American nurses, sometimes imported nurses threaten the integrity of the profession by providing a surplus and the consequent less competitive wages.

I was really wondering because my parents wanted me to take up non other than nursing. Some say, other places abroad has high demands on nursing students and maybe especially from the Philippines so they say and that nurses abroad have high salaries. I was planning to take up veterinary medicine when I reach college but my parents wanted me to take up nursing instead. My parents’ reason was so that we could live abroad and earn higher amount of money than the Philippines who is now experiencing financial and job opportunity problems. Does nursing offer a good life abroad? If so, students especially high school students should be forced to take up nursing to have a good life? are there any courses aside from nursing that has high demands in other countries too?

If you are already enrolled in a graduate program (and I assume you are in the United States?), the most significant overseas grants can be found via the Council for International Exchange of Scholars, which administers the Fulbright Fellowship. (See link below.) Beyond that, it really depends on what field(s) or areas of research you are seeking to study. Any research university should have a graduate advisor dedicated to assisting graduate students applying to and seeking funding for studying abroad.

If you are seeking to apply for a graduate program in the UK/Europe, your chances for seeking a grant to support enrollment in a program are very slim. At the top of the scholarly food chain, of course, there is the Rhodes Scholarship, which is extremely competitive and highly refereed. For grants specific to an academic field, your best shot at securing reliable information (i.e, not ad-laden jokes) would be to physically go to similar/related departments at a local research university, and look through their bulletin board sections for study abroad programs. There you can find information (brochures, contact information, possibly application forms or information) on specific programs, as well as funding opportunities for them. Overseas programs send such information to their counterpart programs here precisely because they are seeking to attract students from overseas.
