Question by hollybaudelaire: How can I save up to study overseas for a year?
Any tips for saving money would be great. I study full-time, work casually as a waitress 2-3 shifts per week, more in the uni holidays, and teach piano as well.

I budget and try to save but have difficulty with unexpected expenses.

I want to study on exchange in Paris for a year in 2010, and will need to save quite a significant amount to live in central Paris and support myself for the year.

I cannot work on a study visa and would like to have money to travel in Europe as well.

Best answer:

Answer by bluebell
If you enjoy teaching piano, could you increase the number of lessons you give? The rate per hour is likely to be more than the waitressing. I know one person who had part time work on Saturdays but gave it up because he was earning much more from a full Saturday teaching music. And he did this right through uni.

If you can live on what you earn from waitressing, save every penny from the piano. There are lots of ways of cutting down yhour expenses. Google ‘Oprah Debt Diet’ for examples.

Good luck!!

Question by sHeLLyBuRGeRs: Where is the best place to study nursing in the Philippines?
I want to study abroad to pursue my nursing career. Can someone please help me locate a school in Philippines that has there own facilities. What I am trying to say is I want to find a school where I don’t need to commute to intern for a distant hospital. Oh, and preferably one that doesn’t require uniforms if possible. Thank you in advance! =]

Answer by Mareeyuh
Some schools in Manila with hospitals are University of the Philippines, Manila Doctors College, Mapua Makati, University of Sto Tomas, San Juan de Dios Medical Center, University of the East – Ramon Magsaysay.
Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila is excellent in BSN, but you’ll have to commute to get to a hospital. It’s not that far, anyway. 3 of their students are in the Top 10 of the 2009 Nursing Licensure Exams.

Goodluck with the uniform issue. Nursing is a course that requires a uniform. Mainly because it’s about staying clean all the time. Although in most schools, uniforms are not required in the Freshman year.

I’m a senior high school student and I also intend to be a nurse. I’ve been researching and I recommend Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. Hopefully, I’ll pass the entrance exam. icon smile Q&A: Where is the best place to study nursing in the Philippines?
